Gellewza IWSCThe semi-sparkling Gellewza Rose Frizzante produced by Emmanuel Delicata has been awarded 2 more awards at two different wine competitions held recently in London. This medium dry rose wine is made entirely from Malta’s indigenous red grape variety Gellewza, one of two native grape varieties that are unique to the Maltese Islands.

The awards include a Bronze Medal at the 2015 International Wine & Spirit Competition and a Commendation at the 2015 International Wine Challenge, both held this month in the United Kingdom.

For what has become Malta’s signature Rose sparkling wine, this brings this wines total medal count up to six, having won 3 awards in the UK and 3 Bronze medals in Bordeaux France, over recent years.

A further Bronze Medal was also awarded to Delicata’s premium white wine, the 2014 vintage Gran Cavalier Chardonnay. This barrel fermented Malta D.O.K. Superior Chardonnay has now accumulated a Gold Medal in Bordeaux, a Silver Medal in Burgundy and now this Bronze Medal in London, all within the last 3 months. The tasting note from one of the judges for this wine was as follows “Nut and buttercream aromas, in contrast with a zesty lime palate. Rich, ripe and classy”.
