Nothing helps you discover your personal wine preferences better than tasting a variety of wines of different colours and styles side-by-side. And, with over 20 Delicata D.O.K and I.G.T. quality wines from Malta and Gozo for you to try, this year’s Gozo edition of Delicata’s Classic Wine Festival might be just the perfect occasion to clink glasses.

Festival goers do well to prepare their palate to savour the top-favourite winery picks, delight in some of Malta’s most iconic, award-winning bottles, and experience vintage wines released by the Delicata winery just weeks ago.

These include the semi-sparkling Frizzantes; a selection of Medina and Victoria Heights boutique wines; noble mono-varietals of the flagship Gran Cavalier selection; and Malta’s most internationally awarded Grand Vin de Hauteville range. Besides Dolcino and the Maltese Falcon wines, varietals of the Classic Collection as well as the Pjazza Reġina blends will be available also.

As if the wines’ incessant assault of pleasure on your taste buds isn’t enough, there will be plenty of culinary delights on offer, too. Various cooking stalls will vend traditional local favourites such as Gozitan ftajjar and international dishes ranging from French crêpes to popular Chinese sweet and sour yum.

Adding to the fun of what must be one of the most popular wine festivals in one of the world’s teeny-tiniest islands is live music performed by local talent. The line-up includes Pierre Cordina, Straight Ahead, Upper Lip, Cash & Band and many others.

Entrance is free but to sample the wines one must pay €14 for a wristband for the night and a souvenir glass, which is yours to take home. All the wines are available to taste as often as one likes. But strictly no wine will be served to anyone under 17 and patrons are reminded to enjoy responsibly. A private shuttle service between the Mgarr ferry terminal and the venue gets you safely to and from the festival for €2 only.

The Delicata Classic Wine Festival in Gozo is organised in collaboration with Nadur Local Council. For the 14th year it’s held in Nadur’s scenic garden Ġnien il-Kunsill with spectacular panoramic country and sea views of the valley leading down to Mgarr harbour and then across the Gozo Channel taking in the islands of Comino and Malta.
