Green & Red Label

After 18 months in the making, Delicata is launching its contemporary ‘next generation’ of repackaged Green Label and Red Label wines onto the Maltese market this week. Over the years these two iconic wines have formed a solid foundation upon which Delicata’s modern day portfolio and success as an award winning winemaker has been firmly established.

Launched in 1978, the Green & Red Label wines have been a popular favourite for both Maltese wine drinkers and tourists alike. They are two wines that have earned a well-deserved reputation as being consistently good quality at excellent value. Many Maltese families have grown up with this household brand as their reliable wine companion.

In 1995, when Delicata’s wine range was much smaller than it is today, Delicata entered an international wine competition for the very first time and immediately won four awards. Three of those awards were for Green & Red Label. Twenty years later, the company has amassed an impressive 106 international wine awards for wines ranging from Green Label to Gran Cavalier and most wine brands in-between.

This will be the fifth label change that these wines have gone through in their 37 year history, but it is the first time that the wines will be closed with the increasingly popular screw cap, instead of the more traditional cork. This incredibly convenient closure, not only makes the wine bottle easier to open, but from a quality stand point, it is a superior seal that slows down oxidation meaning that a wine of this style will remain fresher for longer, which is always a good thing!

These latest labels were designed to bring the Green Label and the Red Label into the 21st century by moving away from the more traditional, staid, classic wine label of the past.
Over recent years Delicata has invested heavily in state-of-the-art equipment and winemaking technological know-how that enables them to maximise the fruitiness and flavour of the wines they produce. And it’s those modern-day, easy drinking, fruit driven Green & Red Label wines, that the new label was designed to better portray to the consumer.

These fashionable ‘new look’ labels portray a very modern Green & Red Label using bright vivid colours that interpret the refreshing style and versatility of these wines. These are two wines that are equally as good when drunk simply on their own with friends or at the lunch or dinner table as an accompaniment to food; they are textbook all-rounders. The Green Label is a crisp, fruity, dry white wine with refreshing fruit flavours reminiscent of crunchy, freshly cut apples, whereas the Red Label is an easy drinking, medium bodied, soft, smooth red wine with concentrated, ripe, redcurrant fruit flavours.

The wines are available in 75cl bottles as well as 37.5cl half bottles (with cork) and 18.75cl individual quarter bottles.
