Four More Medals
Four medals have been awarded to four Delicata wines at this year’s Challenge International du Vin held recently in Bordeaux, France. The medals awarded were a Gold Medal for the 2014 Gran Cavalier Barrel Fermented Chardonnay Malta D.O.K. Superior (the same wine that won a Silver Medal a month ago in Burgundy), a Silver Medal for the recently released Classic Collection wine 2014 Rossini Syrah Rose I.G.T. Maltese Islands, a Bronze Medal for the 2014 Medina Syrah Carignan Grenache D.O.K. Malta, and a Bronze Medal for the 2013 Grand Vin de Hauteville Moscato D.O.K. Malta Liqueur wine.
This year the Challenge International du Vin attracted more than 4,200 wines from 34 countries, all of which are tasted over two days in the town of Bourg in the wine region of Bordeaux France, by some 736 wine professionals and expert wine-loving consumers.
In total, Delicata wines have been awarded 13 medals at this particular wine competition, but this Gold Medal is only the second Gold won at this competition. The first was one for the company’s flagship red Grand Vin de Hauteville Cabernet Sauvignon in the year 2000.
Delicata’s overall award count now stands at a tantalizing 99 awards, just one away from the magical and impressive 100 mark. A Century Break is well within reach for 4th generation winemaker Matthew Delicata.
